FLASH: BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB / DELEYAMAN / CIRCA WAVES

New Music Friday is here again! We just listened to three albums out of too many, released between last Friday and today, and here are our two cents. Flashes.

EVERYTHING ELSE HAS GONE WRONG – BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB

British guys from Bombay Bicycle Club are back in the game with their fifth album, Everything Else Has Gone Wrong. We have an absolute favourite on this beautiful piece, is the smoothing, positive and opening Good Day that gets us to find the best way to have, well, a good day, whatever happens (in a normal kind of day, of course). Between perfected riffs and echoing voices, we get from earthy songs to airy ones (Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)). There’s everything to please fans and newcomers.

HAPPY – CIRCA WAVES

Here is a little rock album that is going to stay with us all year. Happy makes us vibrate and, in our winter socks, we want to get up and jump on the rhythm of Be Your Drug. It is an immediate favourite, obviously. Even in the softer times like intro to Move to San Fransisco, the band’s energy is powerful and unveils as we go for melodies that just make us happy. If happiness is a long journey with effort, Circa Waves just created the soundtrack to take us through these efforts.

SENTINEL – DELEYAMAN

For Sentinel, its eighth album, Deleyaman seems to look at the world from the sky, or from a tower and lets its imagination create some spaces and the scenes taking place there. These infinite spaces are dreamy, elegant and naturally magnificent. Humans are mere observant of the wind changing brought by the guitars, sometimes round like rain, or sharp like thunder (Electric Sky). From deserts to Amazonia, Deleyaman’s harmonies are taking us away. A must-have.

Now Playing:
