Our patience is, let’s say, rather short these days, so that’s why we couldn’t wait any longer to share with you our opinions on three lovely albums due to be released tomorrow. Flashes.
ARE YOU IN LOVE? – BASIA BULAT
It is a very successful fifth album for Basia Bulat with Are You In Love?. Open, she trusts her audience just enough to share some of her secrets, some glimpse of her dreams and fears. With a voice coming from heaven, Bulat is wrapping us in a light and comfy cocoon as she unveils inspirations coming from folk (Light Years, Homesick), vintage vibes (Your Girl), and lyrical with powerful warm notes she hits perfectly on Love is at the End of the World. Sometimes sad, sometimes elevated by warm rhythms, Basia Bulat is really convincing us and transports us with love.
VACANCES À MER – LOS ORIOLES
With Vacances À Mer, an epic and high EP, Los Orioles are taking us to their psychedelic rock world. The Swiss here are singing in French but are clearly inspired by rhythm from everywhere: Africa, Latin America, Caribbean, we truly are going on some vacations with them. Touches of vintage guitar are growing the sunny and rebellious atmosphere the band is conveying through their songs. Intriguing, the song Vacances à Mer has a lot to make us think about our own bitter holidays, past, present and, hopefully not, future. In a way, it is comforting us and giving us a lot of energy.
GHOSTS & VOICES – BLACK BONES
The Black Bones are everything but predictable. We didn’t expect so much friendliness, so much freshness and good vibes with their new album Ghosts & Voices. It’s simple, the band seems to have taken el Dia de Los Muertos, or day of the dead, in Mexico, and to have given a little something European musically speaking. Classic or experimental rock music, we are carried by the choruses of Creepy Rain, Heart on Fire and Monster, our favourites. We’re expecting them psychedelic, and they give us swingging music and the other way around. Always surprising, we love it.
Your Girl – Basia Bulat
