Time to catch up on what we’ve missed. We get some rap from Québec, some rock from Scotland and some rock garage from France. Everything to open our minds. Flash.

RÈGLE D’OR – MARIE-GOLD

We’ve got a crush on Impatiente and it pushed us towards Marie-Gold’s universe and her new album Règle d’Or. Overall very interesting, the word goes high and stings, enriched by the used of both languages French and English for powerful rhymes and flow. If the production’s electro kicks don’t quite make it for us, we love the organic moments given by the piano. We also get addicted to the catchy Pousse ta luck and Mémoire. The must of the album is Marie-Gold’s voice and confidence.

A CELEBRATION OF ENDINGS – BIFFY CLYRO

Biffy Clyro’s new album has arrived. Released the 14th August, the opus called A Celebration of Endings is a good addition of rock sounds the Scottish band has used us to for years. Yet, the whole things lack something and doesn’t leave a deep print on us. We’re not bitter, enjoying the pop inspirations that are running along each track, but we don’t get a vibrant taste from it. No favourite. It’s still a good album but we won’t be placing it on our must-have selection this year.

MOM IS A PUNK! – JOHNNIE CARWASH

Noticed thanks to a festival, their energy is worthy of many gigs we went to. Johnnie Carwash has just released their remastered version of their EP Mom Is A Punk! And it rocks. Ideal for the vinyl edition of it, the songs get the little grainy noise typical from garage rock that we really love. Forever Young opens the bowl with vivacity and the rest (Miserable, Lazy and Francis Cosmic) makes us see their softer side, with a touch of beach. But careful, Johnnie Carwash will only be soft if you let them roar first.
