FLASH : BETTER PERSON / BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN / I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME

Whether they’re indie or well-established, we’ve listened to three artists we can count on that released their new records today, and it’s good for your mood. Perfect for the weekend. Flashes.

SOMETHING TO LOSE – BETTER PERSON

First newcomer, Better Person with his debut album, Something To Lose. The Polish singer Adam Byczkowski was between Berlin and LA when he created his tracks both in his native language and in English, in a vintage style that feels very 80s, nostalgic of meeting people under club’s neon signs. The singer charms us with his aerial voice. Excellent for a quiet interlude, the record touches love, fear and loss. A beautiful musical chiaroscuro enhanced by the contrast between vocals and instruments. The little jazz addition ending the whole thing is lovely.

LETTER TO YOU – BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

Letter To You is Bruce Springsteen’s twentieth studio album and has been recorded about a year ago in live concert condition, more or less, without the audience but with the E Street Band at the Boss’s recording studios. His savoir-faire is intact and with his rock ballads, we’re getting into an epistolar record addressed to everyone listening. Dealing with ageing and mortality in his lyrics, Springsteen touches the intimate, the personal, and paradoxically offers a timeless and immortal piece. Impossible for us to choose among the tracks, everything’s amazing. It proves that 2020 isn’t just the worst year and has good things in store.

RAZZMATAZZ – I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME

Since we’ve first listened to I Don’t Know How But They Found Me we can’t do without them. And with their debut album, Razzmatazz, they’re turning us into addicts. With its ultra-dancy New Wave, his flamboyant singing and its alternative rock, we admire the mix. From Leave Me Alone to Sugar Pills and Razzmatazz, we’re deep in the 80s. If some ballads are there to soften the whole thing, with some jazz touches in the brass, it is still wearing a beige suit matching the cover that we’re imaging ourselves taking over the dancefloor.
