FLASH : NIKA LEEFLANG / BLACK HONEY / GAËTAN ROUSSEL

The weekend is showing up at the door with musical blockbusters in urgent need to be listened to. So get your headphones on, and enjoy. Flashes.

BAD SUNDAY – NIKA LEEFLANG

Bad Sunday, the record, opens up with Bad Sunday, the song. Both of them are superb capsules. In them, Nika Leeflang is putting, with delicacy, that Sunday night feeling, between sadness because the weekend reaches its end, and happiness to still be able to live the last hours of this weekend. With the bright Good Sunday, the spleen changes of colour. A beautiful blues. But everything doesn’t revolve around these days, and it’s the electricity contained in Broken Bones and Old Stones that really turn our heads around with their powerful and sharp riffs. In English and in Fren, we’re convinced by this assumed and confident rock record.

WRITTEN AND DIRECTED – BLACK HONEY

It’s a must-have, and an absolute favourite. We were expecting it, but as soon as we could listen to it, we had no more doubt. It is fantastic. Glamour, class, cheeky! Written And Directed by Black Honey is free, fresh and vibrant. Shot in Technicolor, with a small vintage filter on top, the record really has some flair with Run For Cover, I Like The Way You Die, Beaches, I Do It To Myself, DisinfectCathartic, this album is of rare strength and added to its elegance, we’re weak in the knee. We bow to Black Honey as they affirm and confirm their spot in the industry: front and centre.

EST-CE QUE TU SAIS ? – GAËTAN ROUSSEL

Like a poetry weaver, Gaëtan Roussel, with his great attention to details, draws strong emotions, sometimes uneasy to describe, on a soft background, catchy and even bubbly sometimes. Est-ce que tu sais ? is a great question. Do we know? We know we don’t know. We know we love his duets with Camelia Jordana (La Photo), and Alain Souchon (Sans sommeil). We know his style is amazing. We think of him as in control and yet know he lets it go too. We know we understand him. And in the end, Gaëtan Roussel reassures us. We do know. At least we know we love his work.
