For diverse reasons and because it’s just for once, we’re not reviewing three but two albums released today, that really grabbed our attention. Flashes.
SURFACE SOUND – KALEO
It’s quite impossible for us not to fall for Icelandic band Kaleo’s third album, Surface Sound. Close to the cover or their new record, a volcanic iceberg, each track has a depth that, at first, unsuspected, that reveals itself moments before the eruption. Free The Slave, a real favourite from the very first time, is a beautiful musical representation of it. Skinny, and its social critics, too. With classical rock and blues inspiration, this opus isn’t limited and goes further. What we love the most it’s the depth of the guitars and basses, and Jökull Júlíusson’s sublime vocals. We’re completely captivated.

I’M NOT HERE TO SAVE THE WORLD – LULU VAN TRAPP
No need for a Delorean to travel in time here. In I’m Not Here To Save The World, the Lulu Van Trapp bring together timelines, and eras, pushing forward some very 80s keyboards. The vocals are strong and confident, the melodies open the dancefloor, and the cheeky attitude invites us to settle at the terrace of a pub after its closing time. Korea with Western touches (Korean BBQ), Brazil (Brazil) or France (Lulu), we’re also clearly travelling in space, and the colours of each track amaze us each time. Lulu Van Trapp offers us a wide range of pleasing and diverse sensations, in an unmissable record.
