FLASH : THE DIZZY BRAINS / TÉLÉGRAM / THE CARBONS

Three different types of rock are on the menu today. And passion is following. Whether they’re coming from Madagascar, France, or Canada, we have been convinced by these bands and by both their light and heavy riffs. It’s their original forms that we fell for. Flashes.

DAHALO – THE DIZZY BRAINS

We couldn’t wait to listen to their new stuff! We’re heading to Madagascar to discover the new, vibrant album by The Dizzy Brains. With Dahalo, almost entirely sung in Malagasy, the band goes back to its roots. If the opening, Besorongola, seems rather calm, it’s only to announce the storm. The quartet’s rock garage has a strong and stubborn personality. Through it, they don’t hesitate to tackle corruption and lack of action resulting from politics. Without understanding the lyrics without translation, we get the intention thanks to their powerful and unapologetic energy. The song Dahalo will convince the most sceptical people. To listen to without further ado.

LE LONG DES MÉRIDIENS – TÉLÉGRAM

There are codes in Rock music made in France that we really enjoy. In their new album, Télégram opens with what we could consider a classic of the genre: La nuit. And the track works straight away, and yet it’s the surprise provoked by songs Milonga and Les sirènes that actually win us over. The lines are rapped, the words are floating, texts are engaging with both tender poetry and hard reality, bass lines are coming back and the mix just works. The atmospheres are changing, and we find ourselves in different worlds as we are going forward in this contemplative record.

SHALLOW AND DEEP – THE CARBONS

A good leather-wearing rock will always get to us. But this one is also letting another part of itself show, the vulnerable and sensible part. We only like it more for it. The Carbons are giving us just that in their new record, Shallow and Deep. Steel Toe Boots, of which we had a listen when it first came out, is charming us once more. And if we’re less into what follows (Comforts That Kills), we are very satisfied with the energy of Sheepskin, an impressive single. Their strongest point is the mix of passion and energy, both bright and dark, in turns. We celebrate, we get quiet, and we follow them in their sleepless night in the beautiful Sleep.
