This weekend we’re getting ready for a lot of things: ZLan, shows and other presidential elections, we have a lot on our plate. Thankfully, we still have some time to listen to three beautiful new albums. Flashes.
WET LEG – WET LEG
For their debut album, Wet Leg, the band Wet Leg has raised the bar very high. Both with heart and guts, the duo preps its fresh pop-rock for the summer. We can’t resist it and will listen to Chaise Longue on repeat, on a ‘chaise longue’. Extremely catchy, this track is perfect to rest and do nothing. Their cheekiness is showing and shining through the vocals and their nonchalant attitude. Yet, this isn’t an album without passion, quite the opposite. It’s surprising and strong. Everything we love.
CLEAR SKIES – TUNNEL VISIONS
Into a mystical universe, Tunnel Visions is changing dreams into nightmares. Well, not quite. We love this atmosphere, and although it can be heavy at times, we’re fascinated by the bass inflections. Clear Skies is like a sequence shot, everything is flowing smoothly and naturally. This psych-rock takes from new wave and from modern rock with some vibes and riffs, mixing them with an impressive savoir-faire. We’ve really enjoyed the darkness of The Sun and Goodnight. If apart, some tracks seem a bit long, together we can easily listen to them in one go.
ALL WE HAVE IS NOW – CAESARIA
All We Have Is Now is probably more optimistic than we are. That’s because Caesaria are giving it their all in a modern rock assuming the disco and funk inspiration they love, throwing glitters around the dancefloor as they do. The dancefloor is where we are meeting them as we listen to Arcade and Watch Your Lies. It’s super effective and well-produced, a touch too smooth sometimes too, and the nuances of electronic music add a neon-colour tone to the whole thing. Tapes is probably one of the strongest here, and we can’t wait to see more of them on stage.
