PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK 2024 #19

This week, I needed a playlist made of irresistible tracks. And it was easy with all these indie artists (and more). Here’s the result!

Right, I admit it, I can’t resist Millennium Parade. The impressive Daiki Tsuneta’s project has just released GOLDENWEEK, an ultra-catchy electro-to-unclassifiable track. It’s the mastodont that opens this week’s playlist. To follow that, Love Ghost collaborates with Cinnamon Babe for Do You Like Me Now? and its metal core. ‘Cause I love a contrast. Then, Gia Ford gets clear riffs out of her enchanting funky pop-rock Loveshot, also irresistible. Softer at first, Red Sweater by Losers is actually getting the pressure up. Coming from their new album Fear, the song’s progression has captivated me.

Next up are the Lambrini Girls, and they’ve got revenge to take given the riff-assault they get, with their wonderful punk spirit. Body of Mine is a welcome and satisfying fuck-off to patriarchy. It’s followed by the as powerful and political Crusade by The Anti-Queens, and featuring Tracy A from Cross Dogs. A well-thought-out and successful collaboration. Slower in its beats, Prophets by Loveletter is at least as fascinating and memorable thanks to its thrilling atmosphere. Be Home by Hollow Twin seems to be the other side of that coin, with a brighter atmosphere and a similar cadence.

The last part of this week’s playlist is sweeter. It goes with Razor Braids’ newest single Big Wave. Here, they are calling on the sun and holidays through a song infused with melancholia, all red-wearing as per the band’s colour. Swells also summons the idea of time off by the sea with their song Stains. Rose Hotel doesn’t go against the current with the enchanting and vaporous Fruit Tree. Last, but not least, the ultimate softness is found in a break-up for NOAMZ with the sublime Au Revoir, giving an intimate tone to the playlist. Irresistible.
