PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK 2024 #20

This week, it’s a playlist set between the Sun and the Moon, full of beautiful bright lines, discoveries and tenderness, too.

The violinist Lindsey Stirling is back soon with a new album named Duality, and her single featuring Royal & The Serpent captivated me. Perfectly unifying pop and classical music, Inner Gold is the warm start of the playlist this week. And because traditional instruments are fun, Matmatah is next up with the political, rock and catchy SklogW II (On n’a pas l’cul sorti des ronces). The sun still shines bright, though. It continues to shine with the patient and soft pop-rock by Steel Cut Oats, Waiting For You. And even more so on Love It, a banger signed Safari Youth, from their cool album Everybody Else Knows.

But the day needs to let the night take over. To help it, PALES has the great 1518, part thriller, part experimental. It’s breathtaking! Next up is Welcome to life, SATOH’s new single, a punk-rock track with a nostalgia-infused energy, and it’s one of my favourites! The general atmosphere keeps a softness, a vaporous je ne sais quoi, with melody by Paprika, a charming and mysterious track. Even more mysterious, with a few epic surges, gripping Die in a Ghost Town by Matthew Mayfield is worth discovering. Poignant, it helps to let go of anything too strong.

After that, Wunderhorse is on to bump the energy up with the electric Midas. The sun is back, like a reminder that life is never unalterable. Naya Sego confirms that idea with the groove of Showing Off – and even with raw lyrics, it’s a boost! Then, The Imagine If is back on the blog with the tender Like You, a superb and soothing blues-soul song. Lastly, Mazingo completes it all with their new single, their blues-rock City Never Sleeps. Overall, it’s a calming playlist that helped me a lot this week.
