Here it is, The Howlers’ debut album, What You’ve Got To Lose To Win It All! On top of having a great grip, it’s made of future classics. Review.

WHAT YOU’VE GOT TO LOSE TO WIN IT ALL – THE HOWLERS

The intro rises and progressively slides into How Long, and starts it all. It’s the perfect opening, inspired by American blues and desert landscapes as much as by British rock and cityscapes, it’s a success. And The Howlers continue to make us smile with What You’ve Got To Lose To Win It All. I Need Your Love is slightly hushed on its verses and catchy on the chorus, and could become a classic of the genre. It’s not the only one, as the first single is a few tracks down, a pure banger! Lady Luck is particularly efficient. It’s been one of my favourites since it first came out, and again now, I’m addicted.

Before reaching it, The Howlers show what they’ve got in store. To Make A King appears like a reaching hand, and its textures are obsessing. With El Dorado the band assumes their desert rock side and extols risks and failure as necessary to success. It’s brilliant and highly motivating, and what a solo! Their vulnerability and sensibilities shine through Further Down The Line, the kind Cowboys Don’t Cry, and the acoustic Wanting, Waiting, Wishing. Lady Luck shows up with an explosion of bright colours, followed by the strong On The Run (Over You). Magic is at work and I can say this opus is already a success!

Once Again and Matador Interlude, intricately intertwined, will be stars of their live performances. Cinematographic and catchy, these have everything to turn a venue upside down. Nothing to Love is not be left behind. When The Flowers Bloom Again is the last sweet note before the grand finale, the excellent Take It Easy. Their style has gained in confidence yet again and the result is incredibly solid. British desert rock has a lovely future ahead, and What You’ve Got To Lose To Win It All by The Howlers is proof. Don’t miss it!
