PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK 2024 #22

Whether it’s a gloomy or sunny day, the playlist of the week should bring both some energy. Ideal to get up and move around, it’s raining with new faves!

Exterior, night: The Pinpricks try to calm their inner demons with Sugar K and mark the difference between feeling and actually being okay. It’s the banger starting the playlist this week! The hot, catchy and mysterious riffs of Yo Homo by The Irrepressibles are up next. It’s an irresistible queer punk anthem! It goes well with the collaboration between BABYMETAL and Electric Callboy, RATATATA, blending electro, JPop and metal hardcore. A crazy one with a choreography on heavy riffs, I’m all for it! And Infinite Mind’s riffs created by LUX the band also have a great sharpness, although the atmosphere is softer here.

Dublin-based band Queen Bitch is also back on the blog with the enchanting, confident and slightly bitter The Last Time. Everything aligns to make us curious for more from them! Right behind them is Kenshi Yonezu playing with routines in a detailed one-shot video. It’s all for the incredibly upbeat 毎日(Every Day)! The same can be said of Axel Zimmerman who brings in the Sun on Summer Santana, guitar front and centre, of course. And in the category of warm guitars, with a hint of nostalgia and darker lyrics, Jovial Animal has This Place. The tone softly shifts.

With Make Me Feel, Gaby Duboisjoli gives another glimpse of her upcoming EP. The pop-cabaret is as confident as it is sexy! However, for Karin Ann, it’s all about spiritual crisis in modern societies on a queer pop-rock anthem, i don’t believe in God, with a gripping narrative video! Next, Julia Logan has similar vibes, maybe with a bit more hope, in the introspective folk-pop Mirrors. It’s up to Dream Pony to end the playlist this week, with a pretty groovy, yet melancholic rock-blues tune, WATCHING THE DOGS. All these tracks must be listened to on repeat!
