The fourth album of The Warning, Keep Me Fed is now available! And an invitation to the three sister’s memorable banquet can’t be refused. Review.
KEEP ME FED – THE WARNING
After devouring their previous opuses and seeing them live, I was eager to listen to Keep Me Fed, The Warning’s new album. The singles previously released had me salivating for the next gems I would be able to discover. So, were my expectations met? Absolutely! The electric intro of Six Feet Deep jumps into the band’s musical universe straight away. Dark, decadent, powerful, brilliant! S!CK follows with a similar energy. This song is already a classic and matches brilliantly with the rest of the record. A relatable hard rock, polished and memorable, it’s The Warning’s promise on Keep Me Fed. And they’ll hold it!
Apologize comes from the guts – the scream ‘apologize’ on the chorus growls like thunder and highlights the delicate piano at the end. Right behind it, Qué Más Quieres gets the band back to their mother tongue. Utterly efficient, it’s hard not to sing along this anthemic track, laced with themes of manipulation. MORE confirms it: they want more. They want to be free and creative. Their music, their rules. They are clearly hungry for sound! Still, they get explorative too, with the dreamlike intro of Escapism, contrasting deeply with the rest and settling in the middle of the record, like a short break. Well, a pretty vibrant break still, let’s be real!
The air gets heavy around Satisfied, almost threatening, and later again with Sharks. Metal notes are completing their strong chords, adding a poignant feeling to already powerful songs. Like many other tracks, some effects are layers on the vocals of Burnout. It’s subtle enough and does bring some great texture overall. Hell You Call A Dream is another of those singles that have conquered the public from day one, thanks to its nonconformist and unifying melody. And Consume, which follows, brings in the same qualities and bite! Obviously, it joins the list of my favourites. To close Keep Me Fed, The Warning put in Automatic Sun, another live classic now. With balanced and textured productions, the band signs here a complete, fiery and unmissable album. It should please both newcomers and old-time fans.
