This new punk-garage gem comes from Paris. Bloody Jenny has just opened the Basic Bitch Club, their EP, and we can only sign up for it! Review.
BASIC BITCH CLUB – BLOODY JENNY
Released in April, this gem will knock you out cold without a fair warning. Basic Bitch Club is Paris-based band Bloody Jenny’s debut EP. Led by light textures on the vocals, all in English, as much as by their cheeky spirit, the quartet opens with Rock Hard. With its gripping lyrics, it gets us moving through a family’s story made of grief and heartbreak. It could leave us suffocating… but thankfully their saturated riffs and round bass lines are breathy. And then Basic Bitch Club starts, and it’s an immediate new favourite for this crazy banger! It’s way too catchy not to become obsessed with it! Everything is well-balanced without being too smooth, and it’s very promising!
After that, Summer Party borrows a pretty pop-punk tone, effective and solar. It’s a kind of danceable rock that really works. For those who’d rather explore their dark side, the Parisian band has what you need with Garbage. There, they allow themselves to go into heavier and more violent, more metal, inspiration and then, they go all out! It’s hit after hit, landing right on the nose with each riff, and it becomes hard to stand back up for the last track. But it’s Screw Your Friend and it’s a wonder too. Although softer in its rhythm, its lyrics are still pretty heavy. And to close with this colourful pop-punk strengthens the band’s ability to do whatever they want!
Bloody Jenny is still a young band. But I am certain that with so much energy, rage and passion, they’ll go far. This EP shows a glimpse of what the band is actually made of. And I’m pretty sure that it’s not even half of what they can make it sound like live. In any case, Basic Bitch Club does make me curious to see Bloody Jenny on stage, invading it with their sincere lyrics and saturated sounds. Keep an eye on them!
