Provocative and feminist as she should, Scene Queen just released her debut album Hot Singles In Your Area. And it’s unfiltered! Review.
HOT SINGLES IN YOUR AREA – SCENE QUEEN
For her debut album, Hot Singles In Your Area, and after two fantastic EPs, Scene Queen gets bimbocore to another level. Sure, she talks a lot about sex – and it’s rather positive, often raw, and also in a very political manner. And that comes from the undeniable feminist soul the whole thing bears. As for the musical genre… Scene Queen produces what she wants – and no one will ever be able to make rare genre blends. It’s cleverly done, always serves the lyrics, and is pretty surprising. Her fifteen tracks go by rather fast, but are incredibly memorable.
Scene Queen is clear from the start with BDSM. ‘Bimbocore next level’, she sings – ultra metal, a great dose of rap and a hardcore production: it’s only the beginning. She gets even more political on 18+, denouncing the too many abuses of minors taking place in the music industry. And she does it on an ultra-catchy melody, too. Whips and Chains has a threatening aura for anyone who could try to force and spike a drink – among other things. Pink Push-Up Bra has the same biting and vengeful spirit. And when you don’t listen to her, Scene Queen draws blood on Mutual Masturbation, also taking place in the music industry. It’s all fucking cathartic!
Whether she is joined by WARGASM (Girls Gone Wild), The Ready Set (POV), or 6arelyhuman (Stuck – a very club-ready track), Scene Queen continues to play with genres and raw demanding lyrics, and with contagious rhythms at that! When Hot Singles In Your Area and MILF flow in, one after the other, they go from pop rock to metal to country to metal again, and it’s really fun. She always keeps these peculiar textures and mostly clear vocals. Master of her sexuality, she talks about it freely on Amateur, Finger, PEG and Oral Fixation. The end of the record is more surprising with the contrasted Climax, emotionally intimate. With Hot Singles In Your Area, Scene Queen proposes a cascade of well-balanced, daring hardcore sounds, both in content and style, always full of great emotional intelligence. What a fucking banger!
