Gloom Girl MFG has recently released a little gem named Polycrisis. If the EP is rich in punk riffs, the band also manages to be surprising. Review.
POLYCRISIS – GLOOM GIRL MFG
With her, and as passionate, are Connor McCourt on the drums, Ethan Waggoner on the rhythm guitar, and Stephen Sobolewski on the bass, to whom we wish a speedy recovery after his recent and terrible aggression. Together, they present Damaged, a ballad that lets their chaotic bits take over and show rawer lines. In substance and form, it’s ravishingly human. To go wild in the audience, they have the gorgeous and very serious Batshitlorette – it’s about the future, the present, the current chaos, and human absurdity… and about bachelorette parties that can drive you crazy. There, it’s pure punk screaming everywhere. An irresistibly mad energy!
But them, Gloom Girl MFG is only about saturated and devouring energy then? No. The band is capable of showing a sophisticated side, as they do with Firing Line. It’s surprising, and in all the good ways, as it shows off the band’s range and promising future tracks. Indeed, it’s with the same tone that they’ll close this EP with I Love You. Ethereal and charming, it’s a wonderful track to reconnect with loved ones, ask for forgiveness, and simply say I love you. Gloom Girl MFG changes path and creates the surprise with the end of Polycrisis. But I believe the band is only getting started with their flexible creativity and freedom in genre-blending. Don’t miss them!
