It’s Friday, and it means that it’s time for a new playlist of the week, perfect to go and work out (or watch the Olympics, maybe?).
Right, although the playlist for this week is also full of great vibes, it’s a heavy start! It bites! And it’s up to Tara Vern to kick it all off with the strong riffs and the great attitude of Hibachi Grrrl. And it’s not Duplexity who will go against her as the duo follows up with the as energetic Devil In Blue. Their deep rock shines with confidence in riffs and lyrics. Then, the punk spirits of DVTR also have a lot to say. Incredibly political, their song Les Olympiques smashes the games’ sensible topics. Up next, it’s another critic proposed by Marek Zerba with the very catchy Ignorer l’annonce. And like the best ads, this anti-ad anthem is a great earworm!
The tone gets a bit lighter after that with Painted Town by The Vaniers. Their bright pop-rock is incredibly soothing and reassuring too, still keeping the same kind of energy up. Sycamore Trees by BACKHOUSE also keeps a similar tempo, adding a dash of nostalgia to the whole aesthetics. With Silly Putty, Endov also gets to the dancefloor, keeping us on our feet, as they get back to drier textures, more punk. After them is Jaime Orr and its latest single, Come Through. Powerful, catchy and danceable, it’s an unmissable track for this genre, and shows a lot of potential!
Brits of Wild Isles also want to play catchy tunes with Stand in Silence. And it’s just impossible to stand there, in silence, with their communicative energy playing. Sweaty Wednesday gets this week’s playlist to reconnect with softness, a bit of pop and folk thrown in the mix. And they propose it with their song Willem Dafoe and its memorable chorus. Even softer, the pixie Rae Charlea shows up to humans and charms the world. That’s thanks to her kind indie rock on Charm Outta Boredom. To close up, let’s celebrate Bruno Bisaro & Les Ouragans Gris come back with Le présent. This is the first extract of the artist’s next project, of a madly dreamlike gentleness. Can’t wait to hear more from him!
