100 Mirrors is The Transference’s debut EP, released last March. And their power pop and psyche rock are blending in it beautifully. Review.
100 MIRRORS – THE TRANSFERENCE
Well, Aliens sends us to space from its first few notes with incredible textures, exploring the idea of life elsewhere through the singer’s childhood hopes. More than that, it’s also an observation of the preciousness of life, its light, and the need to feel safe. This catchy power-pop track reveals a lot about what the band has to offer, and it’s captivating.
Premonitions keeps a small psychedelic vibe in its theme and textures. With ethereal vocals, the whole piece is very mystical and spiritual while maintaining its calm nature. Hollingsworth shows off some beautiful vocal highlights again with Holy Smoke, which is very soothing although laced with sorrow, regrets, and transitions. In contrast, Afterglow is absolutely radiant. A fine pop-rock balance that makes you want to dance from the first, very catchy chorus. Event Horizon is also based on an excellent rhythm, flirting with heavier and rawer rock riffs.
By finishing 100 Mirrors with American Lawns, The Transference proves to be very effective. It’s a track that is pop enough to be listened to on repeat, folk enough to become familiar, and psychedelic enough to be unique, colourful, and bright. In short, it’s a track I never get tired of and that, each time, makes me want to dive back into the sincere lyrics and atmospheres of this project. Can’t wait for what’s next!
