After a flash visit to Rock en Seine (stay tuned for more soon), it’s on my way back home that I get this playlist of the week! And it’s a banging one!
Want an epic opening with not one but two all-female bands, each rocking it up on each side of the globe? Then, have the electric and gripping collab of BAND-MAID and The Warning for their intoxicating SHOW THEM. It starts the playlist of the week with a bang! Next up, you get to discover Silkrats with Stronger Now, a song full of strong emotions and raw energy in the vocals. The British band is followed by Honey Trap and their old-school, vibrating and technical sound on Outlaws. Later, it’s in a blend of Japanese punk, pop and rock influenced by British rock that we dive into with 来来来(Lai Lai Lai) by go!go!vanillas – it’s a catchy one!
Izzy T is all about honesty on layers of insane productions. Unfuck Yourself strictly follows that rule with powerful riffs and biting lyrics. A true banger! Next, Jack Ellis and The Contraband proposes a rock’n’roll infused with blues for Sweets. This new addictive single is a treat melting on the tongue! The Stone Eye also proposes some tasty riffs through Charlie the Stingway. Then, it’s up to the French trio Heavy Crown to increase the volume. And for that, they got their redoubtable single Royal out, and hopefully, it’s only the start for them!
Annelise LeCheminant has a few more riffs to offer, this time through an intriguing and defying atmosphere on Before I Believed You. It’s fresh, dynamic and a big yes for me! Just make sure to put Taylor Crawford on your radar too, as he’s making some mad tracks like Hontou (Really?) with Mr. Kindness, full of influences and a new favourite! Next, a bit more blues once again with Hair of the Dog by Reo Shuy. It feels classic but is oh-so-efficient! Last, but not least, Dead Chic closes the playlist of the week by making Paris the new capital of desert rock. This new single has everything of a hymn. It’s mystical, powerful and absolutely unmissable!
