Autumn is arriving quickly, so there’s nothing better to get back to work than this week’s playlist! Once again, I’ve made a lot of great discoveries!
This time, it’s a legend who opens this week’s playlist. Laura Jane Grace, known for being the leader of Against Me!, doesn’t disappoint with her solo project. She just released an EP (we’ll talk more about it later) and also released the delightful and fierce Baby, Baby at the end of August. Following her is the equally bold group Beach Weather. They bring out the sensual, highly toxic, and addictive Hardcore Romance. The mood stays heavy, just the way I like it, with Nothing Ever Grows, Krooked Tongue’s new single. It’s powerful, captivating, and quite catchy. Catchy is exactly what Jaime Orr is! He’s back on the blog with the upbeat Not Below You or Above.
JOGS are also back with a new single just as promising as the previous Shining Hill (Where is my Paradise?). It has a nostalgic touch in its pop-punk textures that I really like! Next, long-haired bassist Thibault Voisin offers Prendre des coups. And here, I’ve been struck by this one, with his deep vocals and the quality of its composition. A flawless hit! Speaking of hits, Baby Schillaci doesn’t hold back. With Blunt Force Trauma, the mood becomes much more ominous, though with soft undertones. Also soft, with a sunny guitar and an enchanting voice, we discover Dirty Beau. His track See You There is full of promise for the future!
Our headliner for this week’s playlist is blondestandard, who truly sets the standards for her music. With arms of another, she delivers a fantastic, catchy, sensual rock track that’s sharper than it seems. More funky, with a classic touch but just as radiant, Hunky Dory by Fast Money Music opens the dancefloor. They are followed by the equally danceable Let It In by Per.Fumum, which is unmissable in its genre! To close things out, the atmosphere darkens again, though not completely, with the deeply human and vulnerable The Stove by Trace Money. All ought to be discovered, right now!
