Sometimes, there’s only a riff between a snake’s bite and a soothing caress. And that’s what this week’s playlist feels like. Let’s go!
It kicks off with a rant against corporate culture. It’s with a certain rage that the Lambrini Girls touch on it on Company Culture. It’s raw, sharp, and obviously a great way to start this week’s playlist! With an equally harsh message, The Great Leslie follows up with No Future. The house is burning, but the soundtrack is wild. To clear the boards, we bring out the chainsaw. Actually, it’s Pep Squad who handles it with their blazing banger BUZZSAW! Need something bigger than a chainsaw? How about a War Machine then? It doesn’t wait for approval and White Mount Lightning makes it move forward with a nice dash of blues! Clearly, there’s a lot of anger in these tracks!
Then, if the rhythm calms down a bit, with a funky bass and a rather sexy vibe, Rae Charlea still shows some bite in I.H.H.G.. Best not to mess with her! And the same goes for Mey. Mixing pop and classical, the artist just released a new single from her upcoming album, Reintroducing Our Kind. The track is captivating, deeply feminine and feminist, and therefore sublime. A bit more festive and optimistic, we then have the energetic pop-rock POMG (Precious OMG), a very catchy song by Flowery Beard. An artist, like Unis Son, set between France and the UK, and who you should definitely keep an eye on! The playlist is more peaceful, and to keep the rhythm, Friedberg‘s new single hits the mark. Hardcore Workout Queen should absolutely follow you when you’re hitting the gym!
The heat returns, a bit less saturated and more sensual, with Fire by This Empty City. Here, the bass is as captivating as the track’s progression. Then, we head into nostalgia with a sparkling pop-rock by The Criticals. Contagious and intoxicating, the track lives up to its name: Adoringly Drunk. Free, by Stray Sunshine, follows perfectly with riffs that are even more vintage. More than that, it’s got a truly catchy chorus! You’ve been warned. And this week, we finish the playlist with some beautiful, fun, and inspiring riffs from Slumber and Julian Casablancas (I Wanna Rock a Pair Like).
