Nieve Ella’s rocker heart doesn’t hide behind a pop aesthetic on her EP, Watch It Ache And Bleed. On the contrary, the two elements blend seamlessly, making her an essential presence on the British music scene. Equal parts classy and glamorous, as well as grunge and chaotic, this EP is a true standout. Nieve Ella opens it with Anything, a confident pop-rock track where her clear, smooth voice pairs perfectly with sharp, vibrant guitars. Sugarcoated follows, peeling away layers of emotional scars little by little. There’s a bittersweet quality to it that resonates deeply, which also comes through in The Things We Say.

Up to this point, her bright riffs have brought a growing, vibrant energy, even in those bittersweet moments. But with The Reason, Nieve Ella showcases her talent for gentleness, tenderness, subtlety, and piano-driven simplicity. Later, she finds balance with a touch of folk in the radiant Sweet Nothings. The contrast is striking when, nestled between these two tracks, the sultry and unapologetic Ganni Top (She Gets What She Needs) makes its entrance. With its cheeky tone that exudes self-confidence, it’s hard not to fall in love with this banger. 

With Stop Me!, she conjures a world of nightlife where everything is free and limitless, blending vintage echoes with powerful riffs in perfect harmony. She concludes this EP with Meet You In The Middle, which builds beautifully toward an epic, dreamlike climax. Through Watch It Ache And Bleed, Nieve Ella lays the groundwork for a collection of indie rock anthems with pop sensibilities that will resonate with many generations, especially the younger ones. Grand!
