THE GOOD KIND – OUR GIRL

It’ll Be Fine opens the way with beautiful depth in its chords and contrasts. It’s a track like a comforting embrace, where Soph Nathan’s voice enchants and reassures. Our Girl’s new album, The Good Kind, starts like this, which is pretty promising for the rest of it. Whether with the more electric attitude of What You Told Me or the catchy melody of Who Do You Love, it’s thoroughly enjoyable to get lost in the soft rock the band offers. The sound is polished, the vocal echo, perfectly balanced, and the instruments’ saturation, infectious.

Next comes the contemplative yet equally lovely and restful title track, The Good Kind. It’s a must-listen that precedes the charming, introspective, profound, and vibrant Something About Me Being A Woman. This gem touches on queer love and identity with great elegance and, once again, stunning textures. Then, Our Girl ventures into almost psychedelic territory with the sunny and positive Relief before confronting negativity and pain with Unlike Anything.

What goes up must come down… and vice versa. Something Exciting returns with a beautiful energy and unmatched optimism for the rest of the album. By contrast, I Don’t Mind draws on gentler elements, creating a nuanced, semi-melancholic atmosphere that is still luminous. Sister maintains a similar vibe, once again sharing something intimate and tender. Our Girl closes The Good Kind with Absences, another embrace—this time one that tugs at the heartstrings and brings up tears. Everything is perfectly balanced, making this album a true success—a journey that resonates with our everyday lives. Don’t miss it!
