PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK 2025 #6

The playlist of the week is back to bring you a dose of fresh tunes, with no opinion on Valentine’s Day. Take what you like and enjoy!

Lively, sexy, fresh, and confident, Cortney Dixon delivers a pop-rock track that mirrors her image: You Look Good Naked. A positive take on body image with strong riffs, it kicks off this week’s playlist. Speaking of big riffs and energy, here’s some straight from Australia. Punk duo Mannequin Death Squad teams up with Emmy Mack to offer the world the excellent Don’t Care. Catchy and hard-hitting, it precedes the intriguing, hypnotic, and vibrant Akșam Vakti by Güner Künier. In my opinion, this is a must-discover track for its accessible experimental-punk vibe! We then turn to THEM by Basic Partner, with a vintage, cinematic aesthetic and some brilliantly sharp guitar attacks.

Let’s stay in a slightly vintage atmosphere with the groovy pop-rock WTF! by Zarooni. A well-crafted guitar solo and an infectious melody later, we find ourselves dancing to introspective lyrics. Then, we talk about love with the return of the excellent Comett and Epic Love, another upbeat pop-rock track where melancholy has its rightful place. Stunning! Housewife keeps this energy going with Work Song, where the distorted guitars perfectly highlight Brighid Fry’s clear vocals. The contrast is incredible! Speaking of contrast, there’s a similar one in BURN, where yama’s soft vocals meet the more aggressive delivery of WurtS – a combination that really works!

More punk, more DIY, but just as passionate, we find 1+1+1 with their new track Crawl, featuring shimmering guitars and an enchanting attitude! Next, Marseille blends folk into their Brit-rock, adding in some ethereal and epic arrangements to History. The atmosphere continues to darken as we discover the latest single from The Howlers – true to their British blues-stoner sound – the captivating Night Crawling. Finally, the playlist, this week, ends with the gripping, electric, and mystical Collider by Slung, straight from the depths!
