FIREFLIES – TIP STEVENS

After making us fall for the venom of Mamba, Tip Stevens offers a delicate antidote with Fireflies. The artist does this through intimate lyrics, full of unconditional love and complex emotions, right from the first track Kalahari. Cello, acoustic guitar, and his voice, which he makes resonate loud and far – everything combines beautifully and reveals an intense emotional depth that recalls the final notes of his previous EP. Yet, while Tip Stevens maintains very rock sounds, this new EP isn’t afraid to borrow from pop with the very catchy Paper Planes. The melody brightens, and we try to capture and photograph our own memories.

He dares to dive into even more vulnerability with the heartbreaking Tell Me. Here again, the fireflies take flight, contrasting like brilliant golden specks against the dark sky of winter. And as the sky clears, we try to grasp them, only to let them go again. Like memories – the joyful, the painful, the bittersweet. To confirm this and make them shine even brighter, the instrumental track Fireflies comes in. With the presence of nature as an instrument, this track opens a magnificent, grand universe where a firefly in the wild becomes a fairy.

The fireflies don’t stop flying with Deeper. Here, Tip Stevens‘ deeply rock sound bursts forth in both his voice and in a solo with energy, duration, and intensity that is absolutely legendary! If we thought he’d be unwrapping a blanket and setting a soft mood for the spring, the artist loves to contradict. With Fireflies, Tip Stevens shakes all the emotions that humans can hold. Tears rise as quickly as the guitars strike, and time slows under softer melodies. Sublime!
