As per usual, it’s time to dive into the playlist of the week—packed with fresh releases, lush textures, and plenty of surprises!
CHAMELEON LIME WHOOPIEPIE kicks things off with a shot of nostalgia wrapped in a modern package with DONKEY SONG. Soft vocals, a bouncy melody, and catchy riffs—it’s all I need to fall head over heels for this trio led by Chi-. Even though the mood darkens, the energy stays high with the gothic-alt-rock vibes of Send Me Love Letters’ Glastonbury—absolutely hypnotic! Then it’s time to let the rage erupt with Pornography by HELLE, sitting somewhere between punk and hardcore metal. It’s bloody cathartic, fierce, free, and brilliantly feminist. Then, duo snake eyes comes in with a slightly less violent but still raw rock sound on their latest single jar full of wasps, where the riffs also carry a nostalgic echo.
It’s up to Marionette to bring a touch of pop into the mix. And the chorus of You Always Come First does the job and more—fresh, catchy, and perfectly textured! Across the Channel, Jacques & Jacques get a bit existential—or almost—with En Boucle. That chorus is definitely going to get a few of you jumping around! New Zealanders Tablefox go for a slightly more classic rock sound with the irresistibly catchy Digging In. It’s more restrained in the verses but builds beautifully. Tension rises in Dumb Crush’s guitars—and rightly so. They wind and weave their way to Annihilation, and we follow, totally hypnotised. Gripping, promising, and unforgettable after just one listen.
Then Geagea arrives, armed with a pair of synths and a world that drifts between dreamlike and grounded, on the sublime, soothing, and uplifting Pretty Generic. Its strength? Layers of harmonious textures beneath clear vocals. We slide into Neo-Soul next with DNVR. Their tender sharpness on Jealousy really struck a chord with me, fitting perfectly with the bittersweet mood Coming Up Roses brings in I’m In Bed. Finally, we wrap things up with a journey to other galaxies thanks to Rhythms of the Moon by Astro the little Man. A deeply personal track that paints a stunning sonic landscape of guitar solos, synths, and doubled vocals. A beautiful conclusion to this week’s playlist!
