From the dancefloor to punk and metal club vibes, it’s just a small step that our playlist of the week will push you to take! Let’s go!
It’s nice to start things differently sometimes. So, we’re starting the playlist of the week with some Afrobeats. I have a real soft spot for Willi Ka Djö by Kanazoé Orkestra, its contagious good mood and occasionally razor-sharp guitars really struck a chord! We then move on to a more classic rock… or almost. On their new single Bloom Baby Bloom, Wolf Alice don’t hesitate to summon a glittering and textured pop sound. It’s light, sexy, and super effective! Press Club brings a similar energy, with an added sense of urgency in the verses, with To All The Ones That I Love. It’s nostalgic, anxious, passionate, and, of course, full of love. Edith Mess has a trick through a track that helps her shake off or face her anxiety head-on, the highly promising TUMBLEWEED. She opens up over a catchy and familiar melody, reassuring and slightly restrained.
With all that, we’ve warmed up the dancefloor. But we’re not done yet! SANSOM lands with Call Me. The riffs are solid, the rhythm is hot, this is a track to play on repeat all summer! Slumber follows with rougher, rawer textures, yet just as catchy, with 1993 (Shake It). Even with its grunge influences, this trip back in time feels strikingly modern, the perfect bridge to even heavier sounds! Speaking of which, the Italians from bleach drop the powerful HAND GRENADE. Maybe not quite as explosive as its name suggests, but incredibly effective thanks to its sharp riffs and raw textures. Last Train follows with One By One, where anger and frustration clash with the will to keep going. It’s a proper kick-up-the-arse kind of track that also seems pretty personal, and honestly, it feels great!
From there, we move into more metal territory with a beautiful balance between epic and dream on Sleepless by Beyond Confidence. Gripping and finely arranged, it’s as much an anthem as a cry from the heart. The intense emotions don’t stop there! Belgian punk band Captain Kaiser takes over with the wild and addictive Roadkill. And yes, it’s a real favourite! The energy is insane! Shadows Of A Silhouette hold their own with their excellent No Matter Where I Go, lighter but with a sharp and impressive build-up. Finally, it’s Artio who closes the playlist of the week with Split Soul. And once again, it’s absolutely explosive! Their goal is to carve a path through our souls and hearts with powerful riffs and fascinating electro layers. Spoiler: it works!
