After a pretty long break, full of plot twists and well-deserved rest, I am finally back on the blog with the playlist of the week!
Oswald Slain kicks off the playlist thiw week with a question and a certain dose of optimism. Have You Got What You Came Here For? is a question we should probably ask ourselves more often, but above all, it’s a fun and festive banger not to be missed! The evening carries on into a more intense night, with the nostalgic echoes and ethereal vocals of Just Mustard on WE WERE JUST HERE. Sublime and brimming with emotion, it’s a dizzying listen. Krooked Tongue are also feeling a bit nostalgic on the romantic and radiant Dog Days. Exploring and admiring the past, the band delivers a beautiful ode to young love. Love is still in the air… though it’s taken on a bitter edge. The Wild Things channel their best 80s vibes and drop I Can’t Wait, cathartic and full of growling emotion!
Things take a punkier turn with the brilliantly fun I Like Football Shirts by Beku and Loose Articles. It’s raw, carefree, and feminist, we’re obsessed! Next up, shame deliver a hopeful punch with Quiet Life. An acoustic guitar, glowing rockabilly energy, and a sharp bite combine with a distinctly 2000s rhythm that hits right in the now. Then… The Hives Forever Forever The Hives bursts in with a poppier twist than anticipated. The Hives surprise, yet stay true to themselves, opening a new chapter while doing exactly what they do best. On a darker note, The Bohemes captivate with their British-inspired rock and pulsating energy on What Happens When You Press Escape. Intriguing from start to finish. It’s a musical thriller you won’t want to pause!
Feeling like a shot of stoner rock? Dirty Sound Magnet has just the thing with the chilling Dead Inside. Their style, somewhere between psych, stoner and heavy metal, could wake the dead without breaking a sweat! A dark but defiant heart also beats through Sinister. Here, AViVA opens up about solitude and isolation. Yet she comes across as powerful and self-assured, proof that life still has surprises in store. Thumper then crash in with The Rip, taking on the anxiety of wild nights with explosive riffs, heavy distortion and an irresistibly catchy melody. To round off this our playlist this week, we dive into a very particular kind of hell: Tip Stevens welcomes us in like a master of ceremonies with an absolute banger. Mixing brutal rock with searing electro, the French artist mesmerises on Emperor. So good, it’s almost evil!!
