PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK 2025 #31

This Friday, filled with great releases, here we are again with the playlist of the week! Feels like the end of summer… or the start of a sunny new term!

This week, the playlist kicks off with the solar energy of Lava La Rue and their superb single easy come, easy go. Delicate vocals, vibrant beats, it’s a massive favourite that still carries a hint of the holidays, making it a brilliant intro! We keep the same vibe but add some distortion, diving headfirst into Bitter Everyday by Wednesday. With its hint of bitterness, it’s simply irresistible! The tone shifts with City Builders and their sharp-edged pop-rock sound in Vengeful Spirit, an absolutely addictive track not to miss this autumn! Maruja also bares its teeth with the highly political genre-blended tune that is Trenches. With a heavy atmosphere, it’s visceral and necessary!

The raw textures of Texoprint’s noise grab us next with Street Theatre. Oppressive in its structure, it’s a track that’s as mad as it is cathartic. Migraine then echoes through as Projector adds a few riffs to soothe our anxieties. A paradox that slaps! Time to return to the sun, not without our strongest and most anti-capitalist emotions. PABST surrounds us with gorgeous chords and textures in a field of flowers with Orca Whale. The message and the aesthetic are both absolute bangers! The atmosphere eases again with the radiant Barcelona (Take 4) by Cubzoa. A soft touch with a razor-sharp edge of nostalgia, not to be missed!

We keep this gentler pace going with Heather Avalon and her pop-rock prayer beg for me. Sunny, sexy, touching, and hypnotic! If Lisa SQ isn’t sleeping well either, it’s because of the sweet Cold Little Fingers. We’ll interpret the joy-tinged track however we like. As for the duo Silver Gore, it’s all about emotions, break-ups, lies, and self-confidence, with a touch of cheek and carefree spirit in All The Good Men. To end this week’s playlist, a bit more softness with Coming Up Roses. The band invites us to let go with Gotta Lose It All, which has the flavour of a closing credits theme. A beautiful way to wrap up your summer!
