Once again this week, our playlist is ready to bring the heat, packed with real bangers and raw emotions!
It is the return of King Gnu that kicks off our playlist this week with the excellent, thunderous, and fresh SO BAD. It’s an absolute hit that I’ll be playing on repeat, no doubt about it! Hot on their heels and bringing their punk and political spirit to the table, we dive into The Old Country by Van Panther. It hits the mark straight away with its chaotic textures and well-balanced dark tones. Things get even more chaotic with the return of GØK2 and their hard-hitting track HELLO PITY. Brimming with 90s vibes, there’s a raw, visceral honesty here that’s completely captivating! We’re also feeling a strong wave of nostalgia in the production of WORLD END LOVESONG by SATOH. Straddling the line between end-of-the-world melancholy and hopeful optimism, between punk and electro, it has an irresistible power to light up any dancefloor.
Ty Freeman switches up the vibe slightly, but keeps love in the air with One Way Love. Here, it’s leaning towards classic rock, and stays straightforward, catchy, and totally addictive. Vaundy follows up next with his pop-infused rock in zutto love song, where his strong and eclectic musical influences shine through. It’s gentle and gripping, flowing beautifully into the sweet & sour pop brightness of Culture by Tatsuya Kitani. That one floats through the air like a bubble, hitting turbulences of texture but never bursting once it reaches Mitch by Équipe de Foot. The band deliver on their lyrical promises, bringing a smile throughout much of the track.
But it doesn’t stop there! Iris Gold steps in with the radiant Smile. Her perfectly balanced soul-pop heals wounds as she offers a true anthem of resilience. I See Orange then steers things into darker territory with the emotional and nostalgic Doll Guts, a promising track with plenty of depth. Next, Swamp brings us Magic Man, where an ethereal voice guides us through a mysterious world, haunting but never heavy. It’s a journey that lands us on the final track of our playlist this week: I Don’t Want To Be Like Me by No Breaks Jake. A stunning, progressive production that hits hard and may well take you by surprise. It’s definitely one of those cathartic tracks not to be missed this fall!
