After a short holiday break, we’re back with this week’s playlist! As always, expect sweetness and hard-hitting riffs.
This week, it’s Dinaa who kicks off the playlist with the bittersweet Fée du mal. A dramatic love story where emotional distress flirts with pleasure in a light-hearted way, carried by a divinely addictive voice. Next up, Indolore brings us tender moments of pain-free love with L’instant d’après. We continue in this mood with some more electric tones escaping from the gentle plugged in by Better Joy. Once again, the landscape painted is full of vivid, deep, and delicate emotions. We explore a bit more of the world’s wonders, love included despite the heartache, thanks to Marquise Fair. The voicales on Wonderful World, and their precision, completely captivated me!
Copycat takes a much rawer turn with va tfaire, where love and desire must contend with distance and anxiety over sharp riffs. Definitely a band to follow closely! The dancefloor doesn’t cool down, as congratulations follows up with the fun, vibrant and colourful This Life, a lovely touch of funk at its core. We keep the energy high with MOUSCASH, a delirious banger from the brilliant Cachemire. While the band critiques influencers’ façades, we have a blast with their electrifying and radiant riffs. KARDI carries on with the same fervour in TOKKEBI-BULL, another banger where electric guitars and Korean harp blend harmoniously. Yes, another absolute favourite of mine.
With Nothing At All, Excuses Excuses spark a hint of nostalgia for early 2000s punk-rock and indie rock, with strong riffs and an ultra-catchy chorus. The atmosphere shifts a bit, darkening quite a bit with King by Chore. The riffs are sharper, more tense, and there’s a sense of urgency in the track that grabs me from the very first listen. Speaking of tension, while the intro of 5 Gold Pieces by GHOSTWOMAN brings a summery touches, the chorus and vocal work are particularly chilling. Its progression is fascinating! We close this week’s playlist with a punk track full of eroticism, conspiracies, and general frustration: Fuck Them Then Fuck Me by Soft Michel. Slightly lighter in tone, but heavy with meaning.
