We have all the reasons in the world to pop the champagne open. This year is marking the great comeback of the champagne of the bands, the Grand Cru of rockstars, the crème de la crème for live acts, all times champions of bangers, and we plead allegiance to them here at Unis Son, their extraordinary majesties The Hives. Yes, it’s nowhere near enough to describe them, I know. It could have been all about the legendary French DJ duet Insuline & Nicotine – but no, that’s for another time.
It’s not a secret, we’ve been waiting for their new single for a while. But more than just Bogus Operandi (and its fantastically gore zombie thriller music video – fair trigger warning here), the Swedish band, with 30 years under their belts (yeah), also announced the release date of their new album and some tours. Mark the 11th of August in your calendar!
They are, however, not our only reason to get the champagne out. And we’ll get a massive bag of sugar on the table to up the bet. We need it to keep it up with Tip Stevens’ new track, the excellent and crazy af Sugar Rush, from his upcoming EP Bengal, out the 22nd of May. It’s hard not to become a sugar addict here.
Anything else? Of course, we do. We’ll be celebrating some beautiful new releases too: the incredible Des Rocs, the newcomers Enfants, Veers and their sharp riffs, the Young Monkey Factory and their humour, the upbeat vibes from Belle Dame, the softness of Hallam London – also back, and we’re chuffed! – but also the greatness of Just Loud and the brightness of Sun Giant. Right. We’ve got plenty for a new playlist, so here we are. And, as last time, a small bonus is added at the end of the playlist.
