The playlist of the week is a great way to enjoy the site’s new look (pretty, right?), and to start December. So come along and jump into the playlist!
With a calm attitude at first, the track Don’t Go Hollow progresses to epic riffs on its outro. The band HALCYON has chosen this track to open their new EP, Mid Season Finale. Very convincing in three tracks, their sound settles between sweet and tender nostalgia and some grand anthemic rock tracks.
FRIEND decides to head for a punk sound on BORED TO DEATH, which is honestly the perfect mosh-pit starter. Major 7 by Pioneer Salesmen doesn’t stop that urge to move around with their addictive alt-rock. And Home Without Bed by Joschko comes in, to play with the balance of the calm before the storm and the storm itself through a friendly pop-rock.
The core of the playlist is marked by Abi Saunders’ vocals and her guitar on the sombre, romantic, and precise Records & Phone. She is followed by the mysterious and masked Bad Flamingo with I Drink Alone. Next, Ms.D gets her impressive track You Annoy Me out with its wonderful soul blues tones. The atmosphere keeps these tones with Saints And Sinners by Honey Trap, until it goes up in its smashing rock chorus.
The French band Seven Ages is next on this playlist of the week, with their super catchy Split. On the other side of the tunnel, UK band Dirty Mitts replies with their epic blues-rock, Ride the Storm, an extract from their new EP. And then, Little Brain and his avant-garde electro-rock really shook me. Together We Rise has something strong, hypnotic, unique, and apart from the rest. And that’s, to me, the perfect way to finish this playlist of the week.
