Recorded, as per its name, at the Outlier Inn, New York, Shane Rennison’s new EP, Live At The Outlier Inn, really grasped its bucolic and modern ambiance.
LIVE AT THE OUTLIER INN – SHANE RENNISON
The artist vocals gently lulled me on his three tracks, in the best way possible. Inspired and inspiring, Shane Rennison has built this EP as a superb pop-rock piece, easy to the ear. The touch of acoustic at the beginning of Closer is the perfect way to plunge into his universe. Then, the electric replies to his voice with bright and vibrant chords. I fell for it immediately and it joins my personal favourites.
Ghost has a nostalgic vibe to it, and yet it’s deeply sensual, with its regular piano, its spirited guitars, and its round bass guitar. Together they carry Rennison’s clear and tender voice. Drunk feels its bass getting even deeper and still keeps a light and carefree air. The guitar solo comes in to highlight this fantastic atmosphere without getting overboard. Because this EP is made of measure and balance too.
The Outlier Inn has welcomed a lot of great artists over the years, in its very specific and peculiar domain. Between the acres of nature and the modern recording studios on the lands just some miles away from New York, Shane Rennison has been able to claim the place for a bit and still stayed humble. The result is a modern pop rock, captivating and technically polished. For me, these three tracks are almost not enough. Live at The Outlier Inn is a great way to get into Shane Rennison’s music.
