Just released on UK label So, Let’s Talk, new EP by Daniel Schamroth, Major Companion, is a condensed pack of sweetness. Review.
MAJOR COMPANION – DANIEL SCHAMROTH
An acoustic guitar, a clear voice, tender songs. It’s in Devonshire that Daniel Schamroth starts his story. And, like in the English region, the artist’s music is wide and fresh. On Major Companion, Daniel Schamroth goes to the point. Hopeful notes and the optimism he places in his lyrics are amplified rightly with the orchestration on Dying To Feel Alive. On Lonely Old Heart, it is through bright electric sparks. And it is always through his sweet and empathic songwriting.
This new EP, Schamroth has released it on the independent UK label So, Let’s Talk, which, on top of having a large catalogue of diverse artists, is getting them largely seen on socials. Chances are, you will see their artists around. But in the genre of acoustic folk, Daniel Schamroth is their golden one. Rat Race, the main single here, is a great way to discover why. The song is as delicate in its lyrics as in the guitar’s note, a loyal companion to the singer-songwriter, and in the arrangements that give another dimension to the track. Space there echoes and seems limitless.
Later, waves come crashing on the rocks on the shore, on Don’t Let It Get You Down. There, the comfort the lyrics can give pairs perfectly with this rhythm, regular and feeling like the sea is near. The sun of I Got You was shining through subtle orchestrations, here it’s the moon that reflects in the water. The last track, Cold Wind Blowing, confirms that the nostalgia of his song also bears the fruit of contagious optimism. Major Companion by Daniel Schamroth is a success for anyone who’s after a bit of softness.
