PLAYLIST OF THE WEEK 2024 #10

The playlist of this week is powerful, soothing, empowering and encouraging. Mainly with feminine artists, it’s also full of different genres.

It starts with a bang, as Delilah Bon celebrates her birthday with a new track. The producer and songwriter’s style has been an immediate favourite of mine on the first listen. Maverick and its empowering and freeing force keep it up. It’s a successful hardcore metal-punk-electro piece. Following it closely is the Bimbocore representative, Scene Queen, back with the crude and vulgar Finger. And it’s another liberating catchy tune. After these two favourites, let’s have a third with Baby Said. Their track You Killed It is a massive banger that you need to listen to now.

With Not Like The Rest, GIRLBAND! barely slows down the rhythm by injecting a dash of pop into their strong rock. And these textured vocals? Unforgettable. Those found in Matya’s Get Your Attention are also pretty amazing. With its suspenseful atmosphere, it’s hard not to give it attention. Let’s then actually slide into the calmer bits, first with No Sleep by Cosmorat. It’s an intriguing and vaporous one. Fall by One Brave Night comes next with a similar feel to it, a tad more nostalgia in it. House of Cards, by Irma, naturally follows them, with a frank and deep pop-folk guitar.

This playlist of the week is the occasion for Polyvoda to come back on the blog with their song Queens, from the eponymous EP. With its urban-pop mojo, it’s a great addition to the quitter section that closes. Now, a colourful rock is back through Close Range Combat by Atomic Lobster. Its intro tickles and leads to a bright chorus. It’s the perfect link with For Your Dreams by Sirius Voltage and Grasping for Love by Vieira and The Silvers. These two masculine bands are proposing an old-school rock, fun and satisfying, that closes the playlist of the week nicely. So, which’s your favourite?
