Precisely, it’s the textures on Devon More’s vocals that enchanted me as much as the first track’s theme, My Body Is. – an anthem to love your body as it is. It doesn’t stop there as Beautiful Bitches summons an open-minded sisterhood, where all women and non-binary folks will feel welcome. The gentle hug goes on with more subtle guitars and a spotless blues attitude. Songbird gets bright with reggae accents, turning into folk ones for When I Go, and a lot more rock on the gripping Sorry, dedicated to all who ever felt late in life or have learning difficulties.
Throughout the album, Devon More keeps her peculiar singing, absolutely catchy. However, what’s most impressive is that she uses it in some ways in three languages. Mainly in English, she switches to German on the delicate Sonneblumenblütenblätter and to Dutch on the peppy Amsterdam. Romantic on Finally Yours and Catch That Moon, the artist is also a realist on One of These Days and Come Over, the latter inextricably linked to lockdowns. With Sunrise, Devon More closes Sky Is Falling like she started it: with a spell of lively riffs and brightness. Listen to it now, everywhere.
