NIGHT TRACKS – ROMAN AUSEN

With glimmering chords infused with disco, Roman Ausen has made Night Tracks an unforgettable and timeless EP. It’s an obsession for summery nights, the kind that should never end. It’s also the warmth of long wintery nights. Romantic and sexy, the formula is solid. Ausen’s hushed vocals are nicely highlighted by his guitar, which he gets sparkling throughout the record, both aligning with some round and soothing bass lines and efficient drums.

Moneymaker, a track Ausen had released with a previous project, comes back with a new shine, more disco, more funk, more pop. Yet, the undertones are deeply rooted in the raging rock that got me the first time. I am still head over heels for this cleaner version which precedes the gem Blue Velvet. Together, they’re forming a telling introduction: it’s all about the night at its core, surprising and hypnotic.
