Let’s dive into a slightly more pop-driven playlist of the week than usual, full of textures, powerful voices, and surprising vibes!
Roman Ausen is back with a pop-rock track infused with his best disco influences. Thanks to his sensual riffs and dreamy vocals, After Midnight will live up to its promise and have us dancing in the deepest hours of the night. This playlist of the week, for once, starts gently. Still within the pop realm, here’s the extraordinary voice of Charlotte OC on the heartbreaking and vulnerable God, We Tried. A must-listen for anyone going through a breakup! Housewife follows with a similar tone, offering a slightly more upbeat pop-rock track. Matilda enchants with its melody as much as its perfectly crafted textures—clear, soft, and delicate. There’s a nostalgic feel to the track, and staying in that mood, Anymore by CESIE follows. Nostalgic in its atmosphere, her voice is utterly captivating, enhanced by clear, powerful guitars. A beautiful taste of her new album!
Next up is Hannah Robinson turning up the volume. On Who I Am, she asserts herself, pushing the effects on the guitars just enough while her voice adds a dreamy quality to the mix. With its rich textures, Dissolve, the new single from Flycatcher, explores a solar, proud, and introspective nostalgia from the band’s early days. They’re followed by Vundabar with Beta Fish, whose energetic progression really impressed me. It’s physical, fresh, and lively. Lively and vibrant too, Seafret beautifully incorporates orchestral strings into their effective pop-rock on River of Tears, giving it a sublime and gripping epic feel.
Next, we have The Fiends with a more straightforward rock sound, typical for the blog. Burning Question already feels like a classic with its passionate chorus set against a chilling atmosphere. Slightest Clue is also back with sharp riffs and a very early-2000s rock vibe from Car Crash Dialect. As catchy as it is effective! With their menacing, mysterious, and explosive Running On Empty, Claro Que No is a must! The Romanian band offers a perfectly balanced mix of hard, alternative, and stoner rock, and it’s a huge favourite! I’ll wrap up this playlist of the week with another favourite, packing a punch in the heavy riff genre, with Passenger Van by Last Good Thing. A band to keep an eye on!
