Do you need a bit of peace in your life? The intimate, refined and sincere Come As You Are by Niamh Regan is an album that should be able to help. Review.
COME AS YOU ARE – NIAMH REGAN
Belly sounds like an evening in spring, both bright and full of melancholy. For Music, the artist strengthens her folk side and puts in more emotions on each repetition of the chorus. Ethereal or down-to-earth, atmospheres follow each other in harmony. Because these two sides can be heard on each track, Long Haul, Blame and Paint a Picture being some great examples of it. The round bass lines in Nice, along with her clear and strong vocals, bring a colourful pop to her folk. Then, the simplicity of Take it Easy hits, and tears are forming. My favourite here, however, is Waves. From the strings to the chorus, its progression is simply magical.
With Mortgage, there’s more spiritual depth to explore. Its organ and subtle electro layers are opening yet another realm. But to close this second opus, meeting all expectations, Niamh Regan favours her folk roots, keeps it simple, almost lo-fi at first, and invites SOAK, who’s fantastic here. Its chaotic ending is also charming. The two voices complement each other beautifully. And this atmosphere reminds me of the therapeutic force of music. With Come As You Are, Niamh Regan soothes many ailments!
