For The Hackers are on a great course with Le Cap! With their French lyrics, they’re going through an ocean of relatable stories. Review.
LE CAP – FOR THE HACKERS
I almost missed this record. Le Cap (which means Cape or course) by For The Hackers is here to put French pop-rock on the dancefloor. They do it first thanks to gripping textured fascinating riffs, like on Play again which opens the album. Secondly, they do it thanks to its danceability, which comes through on tracks like Nouvelle place and the electric Insomnies, amping the volume up. Lastly, they do it all thanks to well-thought-of and relatable lyrics – all in French.
Within the passionate forty-minute-long record are stronger than the others, clearly becoming unmissable tracks. It’s what happens with 3e Genre – open-minded, memorable, touching on nonbinary identities and genderless love. The lyrics are going right to the point, and I feel for it immediately thanks to its queer poetry and catchy rhythm. Other love stories are flowing though, like Ta photo, Le nuage rose, and Nous. However, these songs have not marked me as much as Ton étoffe and its funk undertones, and Sans filtres, a vintage synths cigarette-break, ideal for a heart-to-heart.
Coup de poing imposes itself like a strong single, with its aggressive verses and a chorus more pop than what I was expecting. Lastly, it’s with Grand fan – a strong electro-rock banger – and song Le Cap that For The Hackers are ending this new record, on the look for happiness. There again, the band doesn’t hesitate to look for efficient tracks that will get people on their feet. If I missed it on its release in January, I thought the sonic spaces of this opus were a perfect fit for summer. Don’t miss it!
