BERRIES has recently released a well-rounded second album. Self-titled, the record really has a lot to offer! Review.
BERRIES – BERRIES
Watching Wax gently pulls them back to a sharper rock sound, tinged with both punk and metal influences. Yet, the track maintains a deeply catchy quality in its dark atmosphere. It’s one of my favourites here. It’s followed by Balance, a more acoustic and raw piece that becomes the band’s softest track yet. Once again, with this album, BERRIES don’t hesitate to take their time, and Balance is the perfect example. It beautifully highlights the natural textures of the band’s vocals. It’s sublime and a perfect break before returning with the saturated sound of the deeply cathartic Jagged Routine.
This Space then plays with its rhythms, constantly taking us to places unexpected for that kind of song. Next, Narrow Tracks has fun blending classic rock with pop again, while Control tickles the band’s roots with an eerie atmosphere. BERRIES close their second album with Crumpled Clothes, tying everything together. While the band takes more time to play with genres, they maintain the sharp, rough and torn textures that have become their signature. Don’t miss it!
BERRIES is currently on tour in the UK. More info here.
