LE BUT DU JE – DAVID

Le But Du Je is the first solo musical venture of David Coscas – here simply DaviD. Known as half of a duo, he now presents himself alone but complete and sincere. And it’s safe to say that the artist is as generous as he is emotional. It all kicks off with the motivating Drapeau. In this track, DaviD shows his will to live with an effective pop-rock melody, which doesn’t shy away from epic metal sparks. He tells his story, where, as an infant, he narrowly escaped death. However, reconnecting with this story and his drive for life was not easy. He addresses his doubts with Le But Du Je, which begins very delicately before building into a beautiful electric progression.

Petit Prince is emotionally charged, intimate, even broken. Main Dans La Main, coming next, is more urgent, electric, and invites embracing the act of making mistakes. We scrape our knees when we fall but get up and keep running. While this track seems inspired by the resurgence of rock, tinged with other influences, Traversée appears to draw from the classics of French rock, with deeply dark lyrics. L’Âme T’attend then arrives, creating a dizzying effect by playing with textures, even venturing into hardcore metal.

Sung in French, the lyrics reveal a thoughtful, poetic, and serious pen, far removed from what we used to see of his internet persona. He has surrounded himself with the right people to give the EP a well-balanced blend of rock styles. The whole work is as filled with hope as it is with darkness, much like its cover, where the artist lets the music carry him towards the light. DaviD impresses by revealing his raw, vulnerable self, in sync with the gritty sound that defines his guitars. With a voice trembling with sincerity, he nervously lays the first stone of this solo journey—imperfect, yet truly promising.
