With this blazing sun, I tried to make this playlist of the week a little breeze of freshness. But beware, its energy remains vibrant!
The first dose of freshness comes with the melody of Stride, by Strange Little Hazards. Somewhere between introspective pop and energising rock, it’s a refreshingly powerful track that both motivates and awakens our inner worlds. Next up, the sun-drenched funk-pop of FALVINO with I Gotta Move. Its contagious energy is just the boost we sometimes need, and its optimism lingers in the mind. We stay on the dancefloor with the return of Send Me Love Letters to the blog. It’s love at first listen with their new single The Mask & The Charades, which brings a touch of vintage, sensuality and mystery to the playlist. Sunrise in Jupiter follows with TAKE ME HOME. Its balance between hope and nostalgia makes it a standout track for the band, and with those emphatic harmonies, it’s hard to resist.
We move on to a tribute to classic rock, for a touch of freshness wrapped in softness. Brother Junior delivers Hail Hail Rock’n’Roll and it’s not to be missed. Confident, captivating guitar lines and a tender voice that draws you in, it’s easy to get swept away. Then comes a plunge into the depths with Walking To The Moon and Kinda Strange. Its mystical, even psychedelic, aura right from the intro is intriguing, before it surprises us with an explosively raw sound in the chorus. I love it! The atmosphere of I’m Ready by The Elephant Man is also rich with mystery and mysticism. Epic, it adds a darker note to the playlist… and CARNE isn’t about to challenge that mood. With J.U.M, the band reveals its modern grunge universe, and it gives me chills! Unmissable!
Another unmissable track, this time in French, is Fumée Noire by Don’t Kill The Cow. Brutal lyrics and textures are carried by a clear and striking vocal flow, all of which highlights just how promising this Franco-Swiss group is. Keep an eye on them! We then find Calva Louise with Lo Que Vale. Its melody sticks in your head just as much as its precise, refined arrangements, which dip passionately into hardcore. Also flirting with a different kind of hardcore sound, we discover GØK2 with B.F.T.D., and it’s fire! Political and biting, there’s a lot to take from this new single. Finally, we wrap up the playlist of the week with some heavy pop-rock, strongly metal-inspired, with the gripping Conjuring Catalysts by Augmented Hearts. Their electro flourishes are surprising but remain fully coherent with the band’s aesthetic. And yes, that last part is refreshing in a very… different way.
