We get ahead of time with two albums to be released tomorrow and one EP just out now, all this is really pleasing. And it’s today’s programme with our three little flashes.
THE MEDICINE – BABY QUEEN
We flashed on Baby Queen from the very first time we listened to Internet Religion. With her new EP The Medicine, the young British artist continues to explore her dark thoughts, her better thoughts, and her general mental health in a pop energising and peaceful voyage. With moments coming from the 80s, Baby Queen gets into very modern subjects, that we, humanity, are still trying to get our heads around, like social media and online dating – as the atmospheric Online Dating tells us. An artist that should impose herself naturally, we hope.
TOUT LE MONDE LE SAIT – LES IDIOTS
If you’re all about lyrics and French language, then Les Idiots have some messages for you. On Tout le monde le sait, the band is singing beautiful stories, sometimes rather pitiful (Chien d’ivrogne, Tout le monde le sait), real and serious (La complainte), but optimistic (Les grands) or somewhat funny (Lourdes, featuring Sanserverino). In this openminded opus, political and deep, the music, associated with this gravel-filled voice, gets high and touch us right in the middle of the chest. It really is an album made for lyrics fans, but be careful it can be too strong sometimes.
2 – BERLING BERLIN
The band Berling Berlin is back in front of the Parisian music stage with a new EP, and because it’s their second, it’s simply named 2. It adds up. With the club-like atmosphere, a bit dark and a bit romantic, the band talks about ascension and isolation, the good and bad in these situations when the mirror in the lift pushes a neon reflection of ourselves, not always at our advantage but often true. And these times of reflections can change everything. In English, French or Spanish the band, between Paris and Uruguay, have long years to live on.
