For today’s releases, we got some soft trip-hop, a bit of enjoyable punk and a touch of catchy pop. Three very different and yet fascinating atmospheres. Do you have a favourite? Flashes.
THE SHADOW OF THEIR SUNS – WAX TAILOR
French producer Wax Tailor is back with a dark and cinematographic album: The Shadow of Their Suns. The samples he uses, filled with references, are added to the singing of a prestigious cast including, among others, Del The Funky Homosapien, Mr LIF (Everybody), Rosemary Standley (Misery), D Smoke (Keep It Movin), Gil Scott-Heron (Paint It Black), and Yugen Blakrok (Dusk to Dusk). Within this opus made of lights and shadows, of excess and moderation, of instants and time, the soft trip-hop and the mixed genres used by the producer are bringing hope. We can’t decide on one favourite as we love everything about this full-length audible movie.

SONGS FOR THE DRUNK AND BROKEN-HEARTED – PASSENGER
Passenger begins his new album by asking ‘how are you?’ and we can’t help but take it personally. It’s a question that always arrives at the right time, and surrounded by harmonies, in this first track Sword From The Stone. Passenger has us on the neck of his guitar with this new record, Songs For The Drunk And Broken-Hearted. His voice, hushed and delicate as always, let the different layers of emotions exist fully in every song, from the happiest (What You’re Waiting For) to the darkest (Suzanne). Like London In The Spring, song and fact, this album is a must.

303 – BRIXTON ALLEY
We’re heading towards fun times, sunshine and flat 303 Brixton Alley. More than an address, it’s actually a happy punk EP and a band that has kept their hopes high during hard times. From the continent island that is Australia, Brixton Alley has made their guitars roar with strength and brought energy comparable to what we can experiment during a live concert through the tracks This Party Sucks, Happy Things, Drinking Jokers and New Tattoo. Wrapped in some nostalgia, the record still radiates through its four tracks. If 303 is an amuse-bouche, we can’t what to taste the main course.
