ASH & CINDER – FIRE IN THE FIELD

The first notes of Snowblind Blues are a huge hit and the door slams open, letting a warm blues-rock in. And once more, it is a round bass line and a hypnotic melody that really hit the mark for me. The blues influence is shining on the whole record.

The Cycle may take on some classical rock notes, but its base is still very much blues. This song is deeply critical of human violence, and it’s a raw and honest result. Again, the base is strong and the layers of music on top form an efficient and timeless record. One Lie is also a great example, with its nonchalant attitude and 70s rhythm. Emotion & Disposal is ready to be a hit: the shape, the charm, the unforgettable chorus.

Guillotine has a graver tone in its lyrics, touching on politics and religion, and still manages to explore psychedelic accents. The contrast is strong when Hollywood Monday comes up, inviting in a warm and slow lifestyle. Hummingbird and Runnin’ From The Gun close the record with wisdom for the first one, and wildness for the second. It’s a colourful ending. Fire in The Field burns everything in their path with Ash & Cinder. And I am really here for it.
