As my small week off is coming to an end, here’s the playlist that goes with it. If it starts with a banger, its overall energy is calmer than usual. Let’s go!
It’s the biting attitude of Tell Me Mother that confirms The Pinpricks for me. With textured vocals and powerful guitar riffs, the tension gets thicker, balancing out superbly its theme of war and peace. Next up is All I Ever Wanted by the young singer-songwriter and producer brooke. It’s impressively efficient – not too clean nor too stained, the production is highly promising and outstanding vocals. On that note of promises, I turn to the first single by JOGS: Decisions. If it can be perfected, its energy, passion and old-school influences are well-blended and fresh. A band to keep an eye on. And if this one is too much for you, don’t worry. No Money Kids are back with their round lines in the super-groovy and eternally charming Old City Blues.
Then, it’s The Great Revelation. And really, gopublic is one. Fresh and catchy as I like them, it also has an unforgettable chorus. Atlas by The Wears is also a great candidate for easy-to-remember choruses. They mark a difference here with the darker atmosphere coming from it. Still, it’s a great connection with Collide by Chasing Kites, and that’s the softer side of the playlist of the week starting, with a heavy heart. And that even when Maudlin Strangers are charming with Silver Stain.
Thunder Jackson lets the sun in, but just a bit, with the warm notes of Steady Freddy, actually calm and full of impactful emotions. After day comes night. It’s especially deep with Sleepless Night, the second single by the fascinating French band Midnight Kiss. A band to keep close. Night goes larger, sensual and enchantress. Sensuality is NOAMZ’s new track and a great way to get familiar with her universe. Her ethereal vocals have a great contrast with her extensive production. Lastly, Sam Akpro takes it all and blends genres and atmospheres to close our playlist. It’s with growling guitars further, electro textures and satin vocals that he creates Disposition.
