While French politics are trying to write their version of The Office, I’ve found some musical gems you should add to your playlist this week. Let’s go!
Let’s open it all with Unstoppable by NIGHT/DRAMA. This rock track has the right amount of drama, epic and ultra-catchy riffs. It’s the perfect spark to light up the playlist of the week! And the energy never goes down as Queen Cult plays The Hand Lender, an honest sex-positive hymn also opening to gender questioning and affirmations. They’re all out and it’s blow-minding! The Stray Pursuit is next up with the hurried Run. The Welsh band walks guitars first and brings up some amazing textures to their three-minute song! And then, a new favourite of mine… the Thai artist PETCH is dazzling on 9 Volter – strong vocals and hypnotic riffs are to be expected. Keep an eye on her!
The Bohemes keep the same direction with the energetic Weekend Wasteland, heavily influenced by Britrock sounds, yet built on Dutch soil. Let’s get some Ska verses and heavy punk chorus with MONTE and their single Control. Effective, it has a pretty fun video too! After lines about control, let’s talk about errors. Man I Fucked Up Hard by SOHM and its old-school rock undertones resonates through their vocals and diabolic bass lines. Softer at first, but with an intense saturated passion, dye-dye gets hot glue out. It’s simply irresistible!
Let’s operate a slight change in genres and atmosphere with Tokyo Cowboy, which sees NINA and Radio Wolf coming back on the blog. These electro-rock sounds with a cinematographic flair make me want to get lost in the streets of the biggest city in the world! Then the days come back and the warm soul of Dreams by Thaïs Lona becomes as obvious as it is addictive. It’s a summer favourite for sure! Djawbreaker uses a similar initial softness to get us in their web on Where Do We Go, then progressing to wilder riffs on its last part. Lastly, epic and tender, Tristan Brooks proposes Heaven Sent, almost too big for this world. But perfect for the playlist of the week.
