This week, our playlist is animated by our will to fight. And in the current political context, it’s a very welcome sentiment. Because, really, rock music says ‘fuck off’ to the far-right!
Lucifers Beard’s heavy riffs for their deep and passionate rock blues start this week’s playlist. The single’s called Out For Blood and it does spark up our fighting spirit! The same thing applies to the raw riffs of Headcase by The Black Roses, a London band to keep an eye on. Then, Little Odetta asks who’s never made a mistake and who should really lecture the others on Who’s Got The Answer. Here again, they’re vibrant, from guitars to keys and the vocals are as commanding as ever! The modern blues rhythm of Word in a Bottle connects seamlessly with it, also showing a great attitude, softer yet consistent. As Dirty Deep asks here: let’s keep our battle stance!
Next, the wind blows strong on Distant Mirage by Stitcher, also very powerful in its vocals and chords. The mystical and worrying atmosphere is incredibly fascinating too. With some mad textures in the vocals, 1+1+1 is back on the blog with Rōcinante, and, once more, it’s a pretty motivating track! Like the really young Revivalry (16/17 years old) who give it their all on the impressive The Town. To me, it’s a song giving a glimpse of their live potential, so let’s keep an eye on them too! They precede the bright Fervants with the cathartic Let Go.
On top of tense political debates, the weather’s pretty hot, right? So, why not jump right into the Seine? Not the one in Paris, of course, but the one by Mauvais Sang. It’s fresh and poignant! More freshness is coming with Paper Citizen and American Song. There, they pay a lovely tribute to American music. Next up is Olivia Dolphin and her vibrating vocals on the intoxicating, strong and catchy Ghost Story. Splendid! Last, but not least, it’s time to wind down thanks to the superb I’m a Sinner by Not In Your Circle. A new single that keeps the need to resist alive whilst remaining cool-headed. This was the playlist of the week, lots of love!
